Let's SLOW DOWN a Moment...

Since the start of the new year, it is as though time is melting. The days are so full, and move so quickly it nearly appears a blur.

It is INCREDIBLE. Being this in flow.

But this past week, we found a new flow. I am blessed to have my health, and was once again reminded this past week. Too much pushing, waking up to hit the gym before school, teaching a full day, tutoring after school, attending evening seminars, working on Heart First. The universe said it is time to take a step back.

Why am I sharing this?

Because so much of being Heart First is recognizing the need to take a step back and rest when things seem to be in such a flow that a break would seem counter-intuitive. That, in many ways, stillness is part and parcel to the flow. I am learning that this is the key and foundational moment to rest, refocus, and perhaps more importantly, let our bodies rest. Our mind and heart drive us with our body our vehicle to achieve our aims. We care for our bodies, sure, but I'm learning that we need to show them a little more care than we already do.

As you are in your flow, do your best to take some extra time to yourself. Is that some extra sleep? A walk instead of a HIIT workout? Some yoga and meditation rather than weights and cardio? Listen to your heart and what it wants for your body, not that ego and mind (in this instance).

I took this picture on a trip several years back while in Amsterdam. There is something about the light, the water, the sky, the buildings, and the calm. That moment of stillness. Let your pause, and slow down, be your moment of stillness as you refocus and dial in for what lays ahead.

With love and gratitude, Heart FIRST
